We went out to breakfast on the spur of the moment one sunny Wednesday morning. Having driven past the place heaps of times, we chose to eat at Crumpet's, which is fairly local to us.
We loved it! I ordered the Eggs Benedict which was actually a Florentine - with spinach, poached egg and hollandaise - but with the extra option of smoked salmon. It was delicious, with a generous portion size. The fella, being a big guy, ordered a Big Breakfast. It came with toast, eggs, sausage, bacon, tomatoes, a hash brown (which looked like it was from a packet, but never mind) and mushrooms. Everything was wonderful, he said, and even though he was a chef he couldn't puzzle out the secret of the best button mushrooms we'd ever tasted! Really, I reckon I'd be happy with just those on toast. No idea what they were sauteed with, but it was superb.
Even better, the prices were much cheaper than most places I'd been to for breakfast, and the meal better value for money. About $5.00 - $10 less each than other places. Even though I added smoked salmon to mine, it was still under $15.
The Lebanese staff were friendly and prompt. There was a mum there with her two small kids, and another older family, and they all seemed happy and content. The little girl was eating crumpets which I think are still house-made, despite some negative comments on some blog reviews I've read since visiting. The bloggers complained about new management removing the crumpets from the menu, and about slow service, which might be true on busier weekends - but our mid-week service was perfect.
I don't think you'd be sorry if you give this place a try, either for brekkie or a delicious fresh Lebanese style lunch or dinner. We'll be going back and I think it is a Hidden Gem.
Midweek service might be more prompt than Saturday or Sunday when everyone seems to go out to breakfast!
