Mummys Market is a Indoor monthly market that is held in Tweed Heads and Bangalow it is a market for baby/children and mummy related items. Items are gently used or new, and are at bargain prices. New items must be below retail price. Items found at Mummys Market are nursery furniture (must meet the ACC guidelines) clothing, toys, safety items, books, maternity items and anything else baby, child or mummy related!
There is also a dad's corner for dads to read the Sunday paper and have a coffee. There is a play pen supplied so dad can pop baby in and give those little pram legs a stretch; this also gives mum the opportunity to shop without bored children! They even have a movie running for the older children to watch. The great thing about keeping the kids entertained this way is that mums shopping without bored children don't make hasty purchases. It also gives them time to chat to other mums and pick up hints and ask questions about the products they are looking for.
Mummys Market also when available has free speakers on the day, on all kinds of topics such as homeopathy use within the family. Yet another way to pick up hints and save money!
The prices are cheap, the service is good and the stall holders don't mind haggling as they don't want to take their items home. So don't be shy, ask if they will accept a certain price. It's a fun, relaxing morning from 8am until 1pm.
There is also a cafe there that is very reasonably priced. Run by a local mum, it offers fresh and simple food at great prices. You have to try the home made Chai, delicious![less]
These indoor markets are run once a month in Tweed Heads at the civic centre, and Bangalow at the A and I hall. They are always indoors so come rain hail or shine they go ahead.
You can also have a clean out yourself and earn some money, get rid of last seasons kids clothes to buy for this season. We have had mums bring there items along to sell and now are regular stall holders. They are building up there own little businesses, have found a way to earn extra dollars and being a sunday dad can mind the children. Some mums even bring there older ones to help on the stall. It's very much a family affair which is what we are about.
This excellent butcher is located on a small shopping strip in Valentine. The staff are very friendly and will even open the door for you when you leave. When was the last time that happened in a store? They can be contacted on 4946 8355 F: 4946 8355 or email email@example.com for more information.[less]
The best way to save money is to by a meat pack. They start at $50 up to $150 per pack - I buy the $150 pack once every 3-4 weeks and can save up to $37 on meat. The $150 pack includes 2 x 1.5kg roasts (Beef & Lamb), eggs, 1/2kg of bacon, a kilo each of lamb, sausages, premium mince, scotch fillet, rump, t/bone steak, lean diced beef and lean beef rissoles. The meat is packed on trays, wrapped and labled for easy storage. The staff are very friendly and will alter the packs to suit you and will even assist with getting to the car. They only ask for a couple of days notice before.
Quite simply the best fish and chips and hamburgers on the Central Coast! Fantastic value.[less]

This hidden gem is a second hand clothing store. The quality of the clothes is excellent. Everything is very clean and sorted according to size and then into pants, tops, jackets and so on. It is very easy to find your size and the garments you are looking for. Prices are also excellent at just $5 and $6 a piece. There are also shoes, handbags and books. Take a look![less]
This shop is situated in a group of industrial units near Campbelltown station, next to the hotel which is on the corner of Blaxland and Badgally Roads, Campbelltown.
Moree Meats is located in the Bakehouse Quarter, near North Strathfield station. It sells cheap, high quality meat and is also located right next to ALDI for easy once-a-month shopping! You have to take a number and line up from right to left but it's pretty efficient service once you're there.[less]
They have regular specials, i.e. 2 kgs mince for $12, 2 kg chicken breast for $14 etc. You can also buy in bulk (i.e. sides of beef).
This store sells the best meat around! You can also get fruit and veges here. The service is great and the staff are great too! You can buy in bulk or in smaller portions.
just go in and shop no hassel just quality
I love this store, which based in Camden - a little country looking town not far from Campbelltown & Narellan
This store has great gifts which are not common in most gift stores, and they are all very well priced. To add to the fun of shopping, the back of the store is dedicated to Lifeline used clothing. The clothes you get there are all washed and pressed and hanging in coloured order on the shelves. Everything is neat and tidy and you can browse very easily. You will find most big brand names there also. My daughter was always dressed in Pumpkin Patch clothing and other brand names. Little did people know about my secret Treasures On Argyle!
I have bought many gifts there at very affordable prices. Even my favourite pair of jeans come from there, top brand name for $9.00!
The only thing about this store if you don't buy the gift item when you see it, you are likely to miss out, so snap it up while you can.[less]
The prices are all as marked. But they quite often have sales on discontinued lines at great prices.
Bargain Threads sell designer clothing at discount prices. You can pick up fantastic labels for as cheap as $30. Every so often they have a 'fun night' where they discount even further. At the last one of these all new clothing was discounted by 20%, plus champagne and finger food and a hair and make-up demonstration![less]
Either wait for the special rack to appear outside the store Or attend one of the special discount nights.
This store has all the usual normal appliances, but they also have a seconds store inside the general store, which is great for a bargain. They are a small family owned company, who I would much rather give my hard earned savings to than the commission hungry sales people at the larger stores![less]
We are very loyal customers, and even though we do all the usual shopping around, we find the service and price at Little & Rabie to be excellent and competitive. They are always happy to price match to the larger stores like Harvey Norman and also have a VIP Supporters card that will give you a further 5% off your haggled price.
They will even keep an eye out for a particular seconds item for you!
At Detergents Galore you'll find great prices on bulk detergents of all kinds. They make and sell market leader equivalent cleaning products in bulk sizes direct to the public at a fraction of their cost. 100% Australian owned, they offer maximum quality for minimum prices. A friendly, family business - they even help you carry your loot to the car![less]
At Tumbi Wholesale Meats you get:
- Great quality at affordable prices
- You can buy in bulk or smaller quantities are available
- They will slice your meat free to meet your needs
- They have a huge range freshly prepared daily on the premises
- As well as meat you can also buy bulk frozen products (such as fish, veges, chips and so on)
Well worth a visit![less]
- Ensure you take advantage of the bulk buys
Save up to 60 per cent off normal retail prices on chicken products at this Central Coast factory outlet. As part of the Inghams Enterprises group (Australia's largest producer of chicken and turkey meat) Chickadee continues its specialisation in pre-prepared chicken products - and now turkey products - all at fabulously low prices.
You'll find everything from chicken schnitzels to burgers, drumsticks, nuggets, spicy strips and a range of chicken wing dishes such as Devil's Wings and Wing Dings - perfect for dinners, entertaining or kids' snacks. The stock & specials change quite regulary. I would suggest you call for the current specials & promotions, so you can make the most of your visit.
For example; in the month of May 2010, if you visited the shop on a monday & said "Mum's the word", you were then given an extra 20% off the total of your purchase!

This small group of shops is a block back from Blacktown train station, near to Blacktown RSL.
On the ground level there is a seafood shop, butcher, fruit and vegie market, bakery and supermarket - produce is super fresh and prices are super low!
I haven't ever been upstairs, but there's a hairdresser and restaurant, which I would assume are both reasonably priced too.
The seafood shop is my latest love - they sell fresh salmon "offcuts" (i.e. from filleting) for $2 (for almost a kilo) SO CHEAP! They sell whole FRESH fish, with beautiful clear eyes (the best freshness test) for low prices - I bought 500g of green prawns, salmon offcuts and a whole snapper for under $25 last week!
The butcher, too is very cheap and very fresh - I highly recommend their chicken. You may need to do some "trimming" (fat) but the meat is good quality.
Everything is usually open past 5pm, although I'm not exactly sure how late...
I LOVE these guys :)[less]
At the seafood shop, they will gut your fish for free! They usually offer, but if not, then just ask :)
The Asian Supermarket sells in bulk - we regularly buy boxes of Asian brand name instant noodles (e.g. Mi-Goreng) so that packets work out to under 50c each (about 40c from memory). They also have rice, catering supplies, sauces, drinks and LOTS more available to purchase in bulk.
These guys specialise in unit (rather than weight) pricing, which makes it very easy to track your spending. The quality is really good and the prices are some of the best on the Central Coast. They also sell a variety of breads, which are very competitively priced.[less]
Ask for a flyer at the front desk (showing the current week's specials) and check the bins at the front of the store (under the awning, on the pavement) for the best bargains.
This place has the best Thai food on the Central Coast!
Lunch is $8.90 which includes a sit down meal with a soft drink or bottled water.
Dinner is only slightly more expensive and offers bigger portions.
The service is friendly, prompt and quite satisfactory.
If you like Thai food you will not be disappointed![less]
The prices are always great!
This meat depot is open Saturdays and Sundays only but is excellent value for money. Their prices are lower then the supermarkets on special. Most of the meat is packaged in bulk but they also cut to order. When I went a few weeks ago lamb cutlets were around $17 a kilo compared to $29 at Coles and spring lambs legs for $6.49kg.[less]
Be prepared to buy in bulk, I found a tray of 22 NY Steaks for just under $20. I have a very large freezer so am able to get at least 3 months' worth of meat from one shopping trip! I spent less then $100 and bought some things like cutlets which I normally think are too expensive, but came home with what I worked out to be over $250 worth of meat if I had bought it at the supermarket on special!
This is a great flower shop which always has great service, reasonable prices and fantastic flowers.
The flowers are always the highest quality and I cannot recommend them highly enough.[less]
This is a Korean /Japanese restaurant that has the best sushi I have ever eaten in my life. The other food is supposedly good but I always get the sushi so cannot personally comment!
The sushi is made fresh in front of you (as in if you have cooked chicken in yours, they cook the chicken there and then; the only pre-prepared stuff is the rice) and is AMAZING.
The owners and staff are fabulous. I got my hubby to pick up some takeaway for my birthday and when they found out that it was my birthday they made me a 'sushi cake' with all different types and flavours of rice and decorated with smoked salmon roses.
They also treat our kids like princesses, which is very important to me when choosing a restaurant.[less]
Just eat there! The food is extremely reasonably priced. Although they do sometimes have an 'All Sushi $3' deal of a day time.
I discovered these people by accident when having trouble with my car and unable to get to 'my' mechanic. I thought it would be expensive to have fixed but the man fixed it on the spot and refused payment! 'Just a little thing. No problem. Enjoy your day'.
They have been my mechanics ever since and never try to cheat me despite me having no clue about cars. I have found them to be much cheaper than other places.
I fortunately have the advantage of a sister who works for a mechanic so can get rough diagnoses and cost estimates. The man at ZK Auto always tells me the same thing and comes in at, or below, the same price I have been told - and he doesn't know I know this!
I LOVE them for their decency. It is hard to know whether you are being ripped off with something you know nothing about and I feel confident with them.[less]
I love this shop as I save so much money every time I shop there. The biggest savings are on grocery items. Some of the items may be reaching their expiry date or just gone past it. Examples of savings are - Masterfoods Caesar Salad dressing (2.2kgs) for just $2.95. Packets of pasta for 95c and buy one get one free. They sell all kinds of products including a great range of dried herbs and spices which are locally made. The containers are much cheaper than what you buy in the supermarkets. When I was moving house, my friend could not believe how many large catering containers I had in my cupboards - she thought I was nuts! But I honestly save so much money on regular grocery shopping because of the way I am able to buy at Wally's World. They also sell a variety of products which you would find in regular discounted stores, but I definitely think the biggest saving is in their grocery line.[less]
I will often ask if they will give me a discount for buying a box instead of a single item. Examples are chips and packet noodles. Also I have mentioned to them about my back being sore and they always help carry my groceries out to the car if I buy a lot (they will do that anyway). Talk about great service! Everyone is really friendly in the store and because their prices are so cheap, there is no need to barter them down. It is always good to go to the store when they have just had a delivery and are putting the goods out on the shelves but there is no particular day.
I like this shop because it competes with six other op shops in the area, is behind the local pub and has a car park right out the front (comes in handy if you shop up big)! The prices are fantastic and you can grab some real bargains. They often have special weeks or days where things are reduced, such as last week all clothes with a blue tag were $1.[less]
I usually look in from time to time, it's always a great place to go shopping for bargains.
Franklins in Broadmeadow is the best supermarket in Newcastle area because:
* I always get a park right at the door (no more than 5 metres from the cash registers!)
* I have never had to queue at the deli (actually - I don't think I have ever seen more than three other customers in the store!)
* The trolleys dont require a token/coin (and in fact I am often met by a happy employee keen to take my trolley back inside for me - or I walk the 3-5 metres and do it myself)
* With less than 10 staff employed there I am always greeted by a friendly and welcoming familiar face
* They have all I need in their six aisles (unlike many of the bigger supermarkets that have up to 14 aisles where I find I buy more (and spend more) than I need)
* It is located next to Stangers (a discount butcher) which sells bulk amounts of meat/chicken that I split with a neighbour.
* It is always really clean - especially the deli which is something I am fussy about
* They have much tastier and cheaper BBQ chickens than other supermarkets (less than $9 - and there are SOOO many yummy meals you can whip up in a flash if you have a good BBQ chicken on hand!)[less]
I go to Franklins at Broadmeadow in Newcastle on either a Monday or Friday because that is when they have the best "mark-downs". I stock up on (and freeze if I need to) yoghurt/juice/cheeses/cream/dips/flavoured milk/regular milk/smallgoods which are "marked down" to half price once they have 5 remaining days until the "best before" date.
Other perishables like Latina pasta and pasta sauce are always significantly reduced too, and they have a great cart of slightly overripe fruit marked down considerably and perfect for banana cakes/ frozen for smoothies, and veges slightly past their prime and a great price for putting in casseroles/stews/soups.
I find they always have significantly reduced meat and chicken there for 40-50% off if it has a day or two until its 'best before ' date.
Overall - they are much more generous with their 'marking down' of perishable goods than any of the other supermarkets I've tried (Coles/Woolworths/Aldi/IGA/Bi-Lo).
Also - I read that the Franklins loyalty program was found to be the best value of all of the supermarket loyalty programs. Currently, if you have a loyalty card, you are entitled to an extra amount of advertised specials and this extra amount is significant when added up over a month ($28 just in a single month for our family of 4 this year!!)
Finally - any day you spend $5 or more they will offer you a free Sydney Morning Herald/Sun Herald newspaper. I go on Sundays, do two transactions, and drop the spare newspaper into my neighbour (who usually meets me at the door with something fresh from his garden!)
This shop is amazing! It only stocks brand names but prices start at less than $10. All items are organised according to type and then size making it easy to find something instead of sifting through piles of jumbled stuff! They also stock accessories and a few quirky items. The ladies that work there are friendly locals and very helpful; they don't pester you but are there when you need them. I went in there looking for an item to wear on a night out. I found a silver dress that, after a further 20% off due to a sale, I paid only $14.40 for! All my friends thought the dress looked great and was a bargain! All items are in good condition; they have a strong policy of only accepting washed, ironed and 'on hanger' items. The store works on consignment by appointment only and only keep things in store for three months and add new stock every day! If you are looking for a new item for an event this is the place to go![less]
To get the best price it is best to purchase a few items and then get them to alter the price. Also end-of-season sales work well and it's store-wide!
This wonderful wholesale butcher is located in Fairy Meadow, about 5 minutes from Wollongong. They sell a range of steaks in bulk amounts and will cut them to the size you want for free. They will even leave some for you to use as a roast and will give you the fat for the dogs. They also sell chicken breast thighs, sausages and pork and lamb roasts all at very reasonable prices. The service is awesome and I have never had a bad experince since shopping there over the last three years. This store is a hidden gem as it's not too well known and these days service this good is quite a rarity.
the sell there steaks all sorts in bulk ammounts and cut it up for for free to the size of the cuts you wish for and will even leave some so you can use it as a roast as well as give you the fat for the dogs. they also sell chicken breast thighs sausages, pork and lamb roast really cheap the service it awesome and i have never had a bad experince since shopping there over the last 3 years. this store is a hidden gem as not to many know about it and you cant get service as good as this around much[less]
Ordering in bulk can insure a better deal (although their prices are already very cheap!).
The meat is of the same quality (if not better) than what I buy at the supermarket, but for much less. There are many items that give a hefty discount if you bulk buy (eg 3kg or more). The staff are lovely - they have never been anything other than polite, friendly and seemingly happy to have my business. I have only been to the Thornton store but they have a couple of other locations too. (East Maitland and Mayfield).[less]
Buying in bulk is the way to go here, but the non-bulk prices are very reasonable too.
A lot of the staff at the Blue Mountains Food Co-operative are volunteers, so they want to be there for their community and this really shines through. They are very friendly and informative. The Co-op has a a great range of products from flours to lentils, fresh organic produce from local growers and pre packaged food, oils and even a peanut butter machine for real peanut butter. It is a great place for vegetrians, vegan, coeliacs or any one who cooks from stratch or is simply interested in their health. I love shopping there becuase they have a big bin of bulk foods from which I can measure out the exact amount I need. You can take yourown jars, bottles and paper bags for filling up which means recycling and less packaging.[less]
You become a member! Ok, it does cost but only $15 for 6 months or $30 for 12 months, which is less than 60c a week. This gives you 10% off everything, which really makes a difference and you are also supporting a community group that gives back to the community.
Every month I read about the cost of living rising and rising. Family households are buckling under the pressure of rising utility bills and our wages dont seem to be keeping pace with these rises so we are forced to adapt and change our way of life and look at ways of saving money. Our second biggest cost, behind our mortgage is groceries. As we become more and more comfortable as a household purchasing online we thought we would try "Off Your Trolley". They claim to be Australia's first and only deals website dedicated to groceries. The product range is excellent and growing week by week. I can't help but feel very excited that this website can help our family save hundreds of dollars each and every month on our grocery bills. I wanted to make sure the business was sound so I emailed them and had a personable written response within two hours. I was amazed the CEO replied, and took the time to welcome me to the website. That's the sort of interaction so many websites are missing these days. The online shopping experience is amazingly simple - you buy some products in bulk, you stock up and save a fortune. It also saves you from the hassle of going to the supermarlet, trying to find a park, and queueing up for eternity to pay for your shopping and then getting it home again ... urrgh! These guys will deliver for a flat rate of $9!![less]
This is how the deal works, I've copied this from their website :
Most grocery products have a limited shelf life and there can often be a lot of stock leftover once the shelves of Coles and Woolworths have been filled. Sometimes supermarkets cancel orders at the last minute or delete a product unexpectedly. Sometimes packaging has to be updated or stock forecasts are just wrong, leaving warehouses full of product that doesn't have a home.In addition, most supermarket chains won't accept stock that's anywhere near it's before its use by date. Why? Well it's not because there is anything wrong with the product, it is just that it can take a very long time to travel from the manufacturer to the supermarket shelves and It could then sit on the shelf for weeks before it's purchased.
In all of these cases, this perfectly good stock is usually dumped ; it just seems like a big fat waste. But not anymore! Every week Off Your Trolley gets excess stock lists from companies that make the products you see in your supermarket. We pick out the most popular products, negotiate the best deals, and buy in bulk direct from the manufacturers so we can pass the hottest grocery deals on to you!
I love shopping at the Lane Cove Village Fruit Market (hidden underneath Coles supermarket) because I never spend more then $2/kg on fruit or vege. And since they are so cheap I don't feel guilty about buying very small amounts of organic produce for my youngest daughter who has recently started solids.
When my husband (and sole bread winner) lost his job the day before Easter weekend I actioned the austerity measures. The first thing I did after signing up to simple savings was to ditch our organic vege box and set a per kg price limit on fruit and vege to $6/kg- ie if it cost more then $6/kg, it stayed on the shelf. The Lane Cove Village Fruit Market allows has some great prices that help me stick to my $2pkg limit.[less]
Just compare the prices to Franklins which is right next door. They have 750ml bottles of Cooking Rice Wine for under $2, all sorts of spices, noodles, bulk bottles of soy sauce, oyster sauce, jars and tins of indian sauces (double the size and half the price of Franklins), Basmati rice 5kg for $6.50 in zippered bags, larger bags as well. They also have frozen goods, some fresh asian vegetables, and they are so helpful. The girl actually left the checkout to get me a packet of rice flakes because I mentioned that I could not find them. The store is also almost the same size as Franklins, which means they can stock an excellent variety in each section. They also have light weight trolleys which hold two baskets, one on the top and one on the bottom. Much more lightweight and definitely more manouvrable![less]
Bulk buying is best. I get the big bags of rice, plain flour, etc. And I buy the big bottles of sauces. The other day I picked up a packet of saffron for 69c!! I also keep an eye out for the specials. If I can't find something I ask the staff. They are so friendly and helpful.
This ABC shop is tucked away in a cosy corner of Charlestown Square shopping complex in Newcastle NSW, a true hidden gem! They sell books, audio tapes, adult contemporary, kids, country, classical and jazz music, videos, magazines, toys and clothing. The staff are nothing short of magnificent in the delivery of outstanding customer service. There is a warm homely feel to the otherwise commercial layout of the store and the staff make every request seem so effortless even though they have probably had a busy and tiring day just like the rest of us. Their friendly obliging nature keeps me going back time and time again![less]
Smile, say thank you, and appreciate the great service.
The Oopty Doop Shoppe is a new age shop selling crystals, incence, housewares, clothing and gifts. They also hold courses on a regular basis. Eight of my friends and I went there for a 3 hour pamper night on Friday night. For $25 we had a parraffin wax treatment on our hands, hand massages, indian head and shoulder massages, foot spa and foot massages. The night went for 3 hours. We were told that there would be nibblies, coffee, tea and wine. Well the food alone was worth $25! Red and white wine, over ten types of teas was on offer to quench our thirst. There was a cheese platter, fruit platter, spring rolls, puff pastries, fried rice, the most amazing pumpkin soup with crusty bread. But wait there was more, a variety of biscuits, mini cupcakes (so cute) other cakes. For an extra $20 we had our own indivdual time with a clairvoyant. My friends and I are booking again in a couple of months time and hope to make this a regular occurrence. My only complaint? We had to go home![less]
Recently I experienced a la carte dining on a Beer Budget. My husband and I budget for $50 for a Lunch Date. We do this as Lunch is usually cheaper, however I had heard a lady on the train saying she had been invited to Lunch at Kingswood Tafe Restaurant called "Entree".
We thought we'd try it out and we found the service was wonderful, quality exceptional and price was well below our budget. We had Smoked Salmon Salad with pumpkin seed dressing, Baked Mediterranean Blue-Eye Fillet with soft polenta and for dessert Crème Brulee. We both had a soft drink and our bill came to $49. A definate winner but be sure to book.[less]
The Sally Army has two stores, one is the large building that sells mostly clothes. There is a great range and all the items are fabulous value. The second is the next building over, and is a a bit of a 'bargain basement'! You have to dig, but there are true gems hidden in there- I always uncover some great finds![less]
Rivers has good quality clothing at Super Prices!
I love the fact that the majority of their clothes are made from quality cotton and are well sewn, tailored, constructed and affordable.
I had to take a pair of jeans back to the store as the stitching had come undone on the bottom, although I didn't have a receipt the manager cheerfully said she would send it away for repair at no further cost. A week later I received the mended jeans back in the post.
I was so delighted with their prompt and efficient service that I posted a comment on the Choice Website Bouquets Section- which was published to let everyone know of their outstanding service!
Extra Tip!-Rivers is The Best Shop for Men who Dislike Shopping!-They have a terrific range of quality shirts, T shirts, trousers, shorts, socks and undies. (Not forgetting their robust shoe range)
All their items are tested for quality and durability which is reassuring in this age of expensive but not necessarily long lasting apparel .
I shop with confidence when I shop at Rivers! Check out theiir website for all their stores Australia-wide.[less]
I don't need to!! Although they do have regular Outstanding Offers eg. Mens T-Shirts at $9.00!!!
Their quality and workmanship are so good that it would be impossible to make the clothes yourself, they are such amazing value!!
The Westlakes Salvation Army hold a "Rummage Sale" at their premises at Bolton Point. I am a seasoned op-shopper, so I know a good second hand shop when I see one. This one I feel, is just brilliant. It almost exclusively sells clothes - some toys but no shoes or household items. I end up getting clothes for other people, as the price is just too good to go past. As with all these type of shops, you must wade through to find the gems, but I think it's worth it to take home Pumpkin Patch and Fred Bare for the kids, as well as Colorado, Jag, Soho and Tarocash for myself and my husband. It is staffed by volunteers, who are all very lovely and friendly. The shop is kept clean, most of the clothes are on hangers, so you don't have to keep bending down into bins to search through, and the turn over of stock is good, so you know you'll find an absolute bargain each time you go there.[less]
The prices are too cheap - $1 for a white shopping bag filled as full as you can, or $5 for a large blue bag. It's not worth haggling with the volunteers at this price!! Wednesdays and Fridays, from 10am to 2pm. Whilst you are there, stay for a coffee or lunch at Cafe Nourish in the same complex. This is an iniatitive to train disadvantaged youth in catering, to give them a skill they can use for getting a job. Great prices here too, as the aim is training not profit.
Fresh produce and great quality at my local green grocer. They have a bargain area too for those with purse strings that are a little tight. The service staff are friendly even when it gets a little busy. They sell gorgeous deli style youghurts that are amazing.[less]
Great value on great produce!
The store is quiet and rarely ever crowded. They have the usual Franklins specials, you can also get a further savings by obtaining a Franklins card that gives you bonus points. But the best buzz for me is on Wednesday night they give all purchasers an added 10% off all their purchases, on top of the specials. For me it's my Little Gem.[less]
All you have to do is shop on Wednesday Night so your savings on specials become really special. I completed my shopping at about 5pm to get my discount of 10% on my total shopping costs.
At Eaglevale Quality meats you can get 1/2 a lamb for around $55 and hindquarter of beef (40kg) or half side of beef (90kg) at $4.99/kg. The savings speak for themselves really :)
The meat is tasty and fresh. I bought a hindquarter and it included 2 silverside roasts, 4 packets of mince at 1.5kg, ribeye, t-bone, round steak, rump steak, dog bones, gravy beef and more.
You can order on the spot or call ahead but it will take 20 minutes to get a hindquarter ready.
I buy it and then sell some to my family and friends at the same price so that I can share the savings goodness with them. But we also have a deep freezer that stores the meat for much longer than a fridge freezer.[less]
The special deals are there all the time :) No charming required but I'm sure it will make them feel good :P
Cosmopolitan Towbars & Accessories is a family owned business that has been established for more than 40 years. Their towbars are 100% Australian made using Australian steel.
Their prices were Half ($310 compared to $600) of other local towbar fitters and they were able to get us in on the day we called for the quote.
The owner is friendly and knowledgable and the entire process tool less than the advertised 1hr service. I couldn't recommend this place enough!
(To add to the experience, there is a fantastic French patisserie just down the road so you can enjoy a coffee and a snack while you wait!)[less]
No charm required - just great prices!
This shop is an historic building that has stores within the store. Set in the town of Morpeth, it is one of the tourist attractions of this little village. The staff are friendly and knowledeable locals who love their town and want visitors to enjoy the experience of browsing their wares. I love that there are so many unique goods that you would not find anywhere else, so many good quality gift items and exciting marked down bargains tucked away to surprise you. The variety of these ranges from good quality jewellery cleared for $2 in little cliplock bags, that i used to pay a lot for online, to designer babywear packed into bundles for $8 and even a large CAT electronic dump truck toy with new batteries, and a remote control, all for $8. I'm going back this week to buy gifts for a baby shower![less]
I have found bargains by popping in every few weeks and learning where in this huge place they put the goods that they have marked down to clear quickly.
In this little Hidden Gem of a store the Lebanese owners spoke English with me and treated me as if I was part of the family. They treat my kids with indulgence and tolerance just like we ARE part of the family, which is a very rare thing indeed to be made to feel like that in a store. It's not because I'm a 'regular', it's just the way they are with everyone. It is apparently something of an institution and people come from far and wide to go there.
So, what do they sell? The BEST lebanese bread, fresh from the oven and piping hot and sooooo soft. Just delicious. Worth the trip for that alone. Baklava and biscuits to die for (not all swimming in honey and soggy like many places). They also sell nuts and legumes and pulses and all manner of flours and dried fruits. They apparently make a mean coffee (although I can't vouch for that myself because I don't drink coffee.)
The staff are fantastic, so friendly and helpful. If I'm getting baklava and say that I am just going to grab some bread they won't hear of ME walking the two metres to get it, they go and get it for me or have someone bring it to me. They encourage me to sample things and tell me the cheaper way to buy things. For example, when buying single pieces of an item (I wanted four at $1.50 each) they advised me to buy ten pieces instead because then they were sold by the kilo and the ten pieces cost just $5.80. They didn't have to tell me that, as shopkeepers they were going to get more money for less produce if they stayed silent but I was 'family' and they shared their knowledge with me.
Price-wise they are excellent value, especially considering the quality of product that you receive. In summary: Fantastic foodstuffs, friendlier than friendly staff, great value. It's a gem for sure.[less]
You just walk in, and the staff will help you to get the best value.
We recently used this funeral company for my dad's funeral. The staff were helpful, friendly and nothing was a problem. Their price is much cheaper than any other funeral company. They service the central coast and Sydney areas. Highly recommend.[less]
Lat Dior African Eatery was an accidental find by a friend who was going to a show at the Enmore Theatre and showed up really early (he got the time of the show wrong). Lucky he did (and luckily he suggested that we go there for dinner the next time we met up), as Lat Dior has turned into one of my favourite places to dine out.
I'm vegetarian and my partner is a big meat lover (and a foodie) so finding somewhere that suits us both and that meets his foodie standards is always a challenge. The menu at Lat Dior has great options for both meat and vegetarian dishes and all are full of flavour. Our particular favourites are Lamb Ndambe, fatayas (a little like curry puff pastry with various fillings) and the vegetarian Cous Cous.
The service is always very friendly and BYO wine is available.[less]
The prices are always fantastic- we usually leave absolutely stuffed having had fatayas for entree, mains and vegetable side dishes for under $20 per person.
I just love Gandha's. The proprietor Sunil Gandha has been serving Indian to the Novocastrians since 1986 so that is a testimonial in itself! He is always very polite and accommodating and no matter how busy (which is often packed), he always has a wonderful smile for the customer. Gandha's food is fresh, flavours from out of this world and really good serving sizes. They offer a 10% discount when you have the restaurant take away menu with you and also free delivery within a 5km radius. Whenever I am in Newcastle visiting family we always make time to have the best Indian in Newcastle. As their motto states, "Think Indian, think Gandha's".[less]
I have often requested items not on the menu (e.g. particular Indian breads that I like) and the Chef has been most obliging. It is always worthwhile having a chat with Sunil to see what different personalised menus that he can come up with for a particular function you might like to have there (e.g. wedding reception). He does his utmost to please.
This wonderful salon has great hairdressers and the owner believes that for quality you don't have to pay a huge price for it.
They do my hair exactly as I ask them to and if I ask about a colour I always ask them to tell me a bit about it before it goes in my hair, and they never try to sell me any of their products unless they are specifically asked for.
It is a terrific place![less]
This salon only charges $28 for a wash cut and blow-dry. This is available everday.
A wash, cut, colour and blow-dry is only $80.
I always leave a tip for the girl who does my hair. She is brilliant
Frozberries sells frozen berries and vegies, as well as frozen fruit purees and pulp. Their prices are excellent - some of my favourites include Four Berry Mix for $6.50/kg, mushroom slices for $4.50/kg and diced mango for $6.50/kg. They do a 10% discount when you purchase10 or more of the same item and a 15% discount when purchasing 10kg bulk free flowing berries.
They also have locations in all Australian states.[less]
Kyogle is wonderful for all your hardware and home improvement needs. The staff are very helpful and generous and are always trying to give you the best value for money. I spent $400 on paint there recently and walked out with free paint brushes and rollers. Not a big deal? I'd like to see Bunnings or similar chuck in incentives for a big spend like that! This local family business cares for their customers so much more than big corporations who put profit before people.[less]
I find simply remaining loyal to local business is the way to get the best "deals".
Hillside Orchard is a fantastic little shop with farm fresh fruit and vegies. Try their apples direct from the grower, once you have tasted them you will never buy from supermarkets again! Fantastic prices, great quality.[less]
We have been going to this restaurant since we were kids and I have converted my in-laws into driving an hour to come here. The $7 lunch special is huge and delicious, my favourite is garlic and chilli king prawns with fried rice.[less]
The great deal is on every lunch time except Tuesdays!
This bakery is located in a small parade of shops in the middle of residential area but only two minutes drive off the main road south from Sydney to Shellharbour. They bake every night and all their products are fresh out of the oven each morning. Their bread is really nice as are their cakes. They have a good selection and are very helpful. Their prices are really reasonable, way below supermarkets and better quality.[less]
You do not have to do any charming or bargaining as their everyday prices are way below what you would be paying at the supermarket down the road.
Thai Phunk is a small Thai restaurant tucked away between a surf shop and a cafe. It is clean and bright and always has a music concert DVD showing at a discreet volume. The staff are friendly and knowledgable, and the chefs are AMAZING! Their pad thai is second to none, and there are plenty of dishes with and without heat and spice to suit every palette.[less]
There is a special meal rate on Monday nights. Also, their lunch special is $9.90 for any meal on the menu plus a generous sized soft drink.
Carmen's is truly a delectable Italian restaurant. Carmen, the owner, is actually of Sicilian origin but either way, it means her servings are 'generous'. It's standard practice to provide take home containers for the leftovers. Alternatively, it's not uncommon for a couple to share a meal. Carmen doesn't make much money from her desserts as everyone is usually too full to eat any! She has four boys herself so loves children. The staff are very friendly and ensure children are provided with colouring books and sheets once they arrive. Children's main courses are served at the same time as adult entrees, their dessert arrives with the adult mains. Having such a high quality restaurant in a country town like Muswellbrook is great. They are open for lunch and dinner six days per week (soon to add Sundays) and are happy to do takeaways as well.[less]
Children's meals are $10 each which includes a main and dessert. Lunch specials are $15 (pasta or schnitzel), Dinner mains vary from $15 up to $36 (but that is for steak and seafood together). If you can fit a dessert in their $8 and delectable (tiramisu, pannacotta, etc). Yes, it's more than the chain restaurants but soooo much nicer and the children aren't hungry an hour later!
I'd love to share this shop with everyone as I had the most amazing shopping experience before Christmas. At the time I was with my newborn and two-year-old, who has an innate aversion to shopping, so I was trying to avoid shopping centres at all costs! However I thought I would give this warehouse a go for family Christmas presents.
When I arrived the salesman asked if I needed any help and explained that everything was half price unless otherwise marked. I soon discovered that "otherwise marked" often meant much lower than half price, for example, a pair of sunglasses marked $65 were $15!
The salesman then came over with a ballon for my son and explained that he had children of his own and knows how hard it can be to shop. Another mother also arrived at the shop and asked if she could park in the driveway (as it backs into the shop) as her children were asleep and it had started pouring with rain. The man happily agreed and I could see that he was keeping an eye out for the children.
As the prices seemed to be good I was trying to get my Christmas shopping done in one hit, but my two-year-old was starting to get restless, so the salesman brought him over a biscuit.
Although I'm not into brand names there were lots of brands. I noticed a mother shopping with her teenage son, I imagine it would be good shop for those hard to impress teenage boys!
Once I had finished shopping it was still pouring with rain so the salesman helped me to the car with his umbrella. It made my day and beats the big shopping centres any day![less]
You don't have to do anything it's an outlet and the prices are marked!
Interparcel courierd a large heavyweight item from Victoria to my door here in Adelaide overnight for $48! Other couriers charged $150 or more! They deliver inter-state as well as locally, and were extremely prompt. I was told delivery could take 5-7 working days but they were able to deliver the next morning!
They were very professional and quick. Since I was at work when they attempted delivery we rescheduled for Thursday and I can't wait to receive my item. They were the best company compared to others I had looked at, and definitely the cheapest.
Definitely a Hidden Gem at a great price.[less]
Cincotta Pharmacy was featured on A Current Affair or Today Tonight a few years ago, for being the best value pharmacy in Sydney. Situated in Merrylands, people come out here from all over Sydney to get great savings! For example, a litre bottle of Cetaphil skin cleanser is around $19 - that's $5.00 less that I've seen elsewhere! I also just bought Nivea Face 30+ Light Feel lotion for $3.00 less than I saw it for at Priceline. These sorts of savings are available throughout the store and have been for years. They aso have an online store, but I am not sure the savings are quite as good, but you could check it out.[less]
Always on sale. Excellent prices all year round.
At Specially Gifted the service is excellent and nothing is too much trouble. Pat, the lady who owns the store stocks lovely gifts and homewares that would enhance any home. As soon as you walk in the door you are greeted with a smile and asked whether you need any help but she doesn't follow you around the shop like some shop assistants do making you feel uncomfortable. When approached by a customer for some help she will always do the best she can to make your purchase the right one for your needs.
Her gifts range from dishes and things for the kitchen through to things for the living room, bathroom, toilet and bedroom. She also stocks a great range of gifts for new babies as well as that someone special in your life. Whenever she can she tries to stock Australian made items. I have bought many things from her that I have sent overseas which proudly bears the label 'made in Australia'. If Pat does not have the gift you want she will either show you something very similar or she will try to get you want you want whenever her rep comes in or she goes to one of the many trade shows.
Three months ago I asked her if she had any electric oil burners as I had bought one previously from her and wanted to give one as a gift. She didn't have any but yesterday she rang to let me know that she hadn't forgotten and had now received some in. In the past I have also put items on layby with her and as long as you pop in every now and then to make a small payment she does not worry about you going over the agreed time.
I have come to know Pat quite well since I started shopping there and and a couple of years ago when my daughter was married she gave me a lovely gift to give to her, also last year when my grandson was born she also gave me a beautiful gift for him.as well.
I believe that the service you receive at Specially Gifted is a cut above the rest and that is why her customers come back time and time again.[less]
The owner of this store is very competitive. She will go out of her way to get your business and if you bring it to her attention that you have seen one of her stocked items at a cheaper price somewhere else she is always happy to match that price and in some cases you can get it cheaper. If your purchase is for a gift she will always ask if you want it gift wrapped and I must say she does it very well. I do believe that if you shop with Pat you will not be disappointed!
Chambos is a family run business with great service. Everything you choose is packaged carefully and added up quickly. The staff even hold the bag handles conveniently for you to pick up your bags of purchases as you leave. Their salad and chicken rolls are delicious, made fresh as you order them. The soft drinks are always sharply cold. The lamingtons are the best I've ever tasted! They also have a great variety of tea cakes, pastries, breads and doughnuts. There's always space to park out the front in this quiet area in Sydney's far west. A great thing is that the park is just a short walk away, or you can hop back in the car for three minutes and have a picnic at Warragamba Dam with your purchases.[less]
The prices are so low that I always get caught out when I shop at another bakery with a total much higher than I expected. They spoil us locals with their consistently low prices!
The Nabiac Community Op Shop is not only my Hidden Gem, but it's also full of hidden gems! It's located in one of the main streets but you wouldn't know it was there except for the sign on the footpath if you were driving by. The shop is in, what used to be many years ago, the old hospital so it's more like a house than a shop which I think makes it more inviting. You can find anything and everything in this shop - from adults' and kids' clothes, shoes, linen, uniforms, bric-a-brac, books, baby goods, videos or toys - this shop is packed full of wonderful surprises!
The ladies that volunteer every week are gems themselves. They always have a smile and make the time to ask how you are and how your family is. They are a wealth of knowledge regarding the shop and they also know what's going on around the local area. I have two young children and am a single working mum and I have clothed not only them, but also myself over the years and will continue to do so because I don't see the point of buying expensive clothes for kids for preschool or around the yard when you have a great shop like this one where you can get good clothes for a great price. If you're lucky you can sometimes pick up items that still have the original price tags on them.[less]
The shop has a $9.00 fill-a-bag deal all year round but a few times a year (normally at the end of a season) you can fill a bag for $5.00, what a great deal! The staff are always helpful and they tend to have a soft spot for kids so sometimes the kids come away with a soft toy or book snuck into the bag with a nod and a wink.
The shop is open 9am to 12pm every week day.
I am totally addicted to Michael's Spinach, Artichoke and Cheese dip and discovered I could buy it right from their little factory on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. Then I found out they do heaps of delicious fresh dips, dressings, butters, sauces and so on and all for only $5.00, instead of paying the mark-up of Coles or Harris Farm.[less]
They have recently started a Facebook page with specials and competitions.
Michael has often given me extra products to try, very nice man!
For fresh, cheap fruit and vegetables that last longer than those you get at the supermarket, head to Tennessee Orchard. Tennessee Orchard is primarily an apple orchard which is open to the public. Their range of apples changes with the seasons. They also sell a wide variety of fresh vegetables which are firm and tasty. They also stock local honey, jams and chutneys, along with apple juice. Prices are much cheaper than the supermarkets and the produce lasts MUCH longer than the regular markets. It's a family-run shop, very basic but very friendly. Their hours are Friday - Sunday, 8am-4pm.[less]
I just buy what's fresh and readily available. However, if you buy produce near the end of season, it's usually a lot cheaper, especially the apples.
While travelling down to Sydney recently with the family we stopped at the Grey Gum Cafe. The service was very friendly, I could get gluten-free food and the prices were very reasonable. They also had excellent toilet facilities and if you want to stay for up to 48 hours there is free camping! What a wonderful gem this place is! The ambiance was superb with roos grazing in the nearby paddocks. Very safe for kids and loads of charm about the place.[less]
The Fabric Cave sells fabric remnants, buttons, knitting wool, discontinued patterns, tapestries and more with all profits going to charity. Fabrics and so on are donated and arranged in colours. There is also dressmaking and upholstery fabric.
There were bins out the front with pieces of lycra and tulle and other bits and pieces. The stock changes depending on donations. It is open Monday and Friday 9.30am - 2pm and the first Sunday of the month 9.30am - 12pm. The ladies serving were lovely. Although the address is Belmore St, you enter via Porter St.[less]
I happened to visit on the day of their first ever 50 per cent off sale and I bought six pieces of fabric, some were quite big and all very good quality for $19! This included a lovely piece of linen and some good quality stretch material. I can make at least six items of clothing, probably more. I had selected one piece that had a mark which I hadn't noticed and they pointed that out to me. Even at full price I would have been happy!
If you no longer sew and wish to get rid of your stash they will happily take your donations.
This is a family-owned fresh fruit and vegie stall. All of the products are locally grown, mostly by the family who owns it. Everything is fresh, usually just picked that morning, and tastes great! The prices are better than anywhere else, including supermarkets.
The entire family are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble, for example if something is not there, they will go and pick it for you. Their hours are Monday to Friday 8am - 5.30pm and Saturdays 8am - 4pm.[less]
Their produce is fresh regardless of the time of the day or which day. The staff/family are just nice people.
Label Love Boutique is an absolutely stunning boutique! They stock pre-loved vintage brand name clothes, shoes and accessories at great prices. A great place to bag a bargain and feel special at the same time![less]
As the items are pre-loved, you get a great price for a quality item, without scrounging through bargain bins. The items are beautifully displayed as if new.
For people who like something different to wear at extremely low prices, it is worth popping into this shop. The owner sells ladies handbags, jewellery, Indian-inspired fashions and some very trendy gear at heavily reduced prices. I bought a two-piece sheer black and white draped jacket with a sleeveless under blouse, reduced from $99.99 to $39.99! The shop is next to the old David Jones store.[less]
You get a great deal every day at this shop and all I had to do was look!
I found Charmaine at Mirage Hair Design through a recommendation on Simple Savings a few years ago. She always gives excellent service and has a lovely friendly manner. Nothing is too much trouble. I really recommend her![less]
Make sure you ask for Charmaine.
Llandilo Farm Fresh Eggs has barn laid eggs for sale, either small, medium or large. You can sometimes also buy "imperfect" eggs for an excellent price. They also sell chicken and cow manure.[less]
The sales at IGA in Nambucca Heads are fantastic - cheaper than any other supermarket around including the large ones like Coles and Woolworths! They really know what "marked down" specials are![less]
There is always a special to be had at IGA! Normal shelf prices are a little over other shops but the sales and clearance items are extremely cheap!
These family growers have lots of fresh produce. Plus, it is cheaper than the shops and the family really look after you. As a bonus, they are just a short drive from town.[less]
I can buy $50 of fruit and vegies here and get three times the amount I'd get in the stores! Plus it is so much fresher! .
If you are after a kitchen bench top at a fantastic price then Charles Vella is the man to speak to. We decided to renovate our kitchen ourselves to save some money and went to different kitchen places to price up bench tops. Our local kitchen place came back with a quote of $1470! A friend put us onto Charles - he is a wholesaler so by going to him you cut out the middle man. He quoted us $700 and had it done within a week. It was an extra $100 for him to come and measure but that's not essential if you are happy to measure yourself (we wanted to be sure!). He can also fit the bench top for you at an extra cost. We were very happy with his customer service and the quality of the bench is fantastic.
Please note he only does laminate - no stone or wood - but he has hundreds and hundreds to choose from.
Vella Postforming and Kitchens is at Leitch Avenue, Londonderry, NSW, phone (02) 4572 0722[less]
The Dapto Community Farm is a not for profit community farm. To fund their organisation they sell boxes of organic fruit and vegies for $29. Some are grown at the farm and some are sourced from nearby growers or the markets. They are very helpful and you can order by phone or SMS the day before. Pick up is from Tuesday till Friday from 2pm. The price is definitely cheaper than anywhere else I've seen and the vegies are really fresh. They also allow you to omit certain vegies/fruit from your selection if you don't like them.
They are situated on an old flower farm and have over a hundred garden beds you can hire to grow your own vegies. They charge a monthly fee for rental of the plot and ask only that you use organic methods. The people involved are really friendly and helpful with gardening advice as well as ideas for how to use any unfamiliar produce.[less]
You don't need to do anything to get great deals, their prices are so cheap.
If you want expert advice and very friendly service, visit the Coast & Country Curtain and Blinds showroom. It is a family-friendly business with helpful staff and good discounts.[less]
Ask about what specials are on at the time.
This is small supermarket with excellent fruit and vegetable prices. They regularly have seasonal specials and a clearance section. The staff are friendly and the produce is always fresh. Well worth a look![less]
Don't need to do anything, as the specials are so good all the time.
This is a great place to buy lentils, pulses, coconut milk and other spices. They are much cheaper here and you can get bulk sizes in some things. You can also get frozen Chinese ingredients and some fresh vegies. All these are very comparable. And if you want something they don't have, they will try to get it in for you![less]
Lexatonia is a family run business specialising in tiles but we used them for most of our bathroom renovation. They have a huge (almost overwhelming!) range of tiles, but if you don't find one you like they can order in pretty much anything. They also order by the metre rather than the box so you can order as little or as much as you like without having to pay for a whole lot of extras you don't need.
The service is wonderful. They will order in anything for you from their bathroom suppliers and find the best price they can. They price matched a few things for us and threw in a couple of upgrades for free too. I must have been in there ten times over a fortnight and they were always helpful and understanding of my limited renovation knowledge![less]
If you tell them your approximate budget they will work hard to find a solution within that range.
This website (but more importantly the downloadable 'app') is 100 per cent free and has saved me a lot of money in the garden!
You use the app to work out your local climate in Australia. Then you can see when is the best time to plant seeds, seedlings and plants in your garden for your growing season!
This saves you money because you can plan your home vegie garden in advance, put seeds in your greenhouse early on and have them ready to transplant when the time is right!
You can sign up and get email alerts also, or just rely on the app in your pocket so you always know what to plant next.[less]
The website is www.gardenate.com and the app is on the Google Play Store or iTunes.
We recently decided to look for new lights for our home. I had done a lot of research on the Internet looking at styles and prices and came across a link to Beacon Lighting. The shop is situated in a back street of the Penrith Homemaker's Mega Centre - basically around the block from Harvey Norman (almost like the poor cousin, but what a fantastic surprise!). Everything was set out so well with spacious displays making it easy to compare different lighting options.
All stock was stacked under the displays so you could pick the items yourself, but because we had a large order, we chose to ask for assistance from the staff member who had welcomed us. The service was just fantastic! No question was deemed too silly and was answered with polite patience as I went back numerous times.
After selecting the lights we wanted, the staff member also got globes for each item and taped them to each box so as to avoid confusion for us. As a bonus there was a stocktake sale so we were on to a real winner![less]
We got a great price because I had seen online that they had some specials. Because we lived an hour away I was worried that if a light had a problem that I'd have a hike to get back to them, but they reassured me that I could ring a more local store and they would sort things out. I was so pleasantly surprised that some stores still provide this level of fabulous service!
After being told I would need a brand new computer to replace my nine-year-old computer, I visited MicroGram Computers to obtain a second opinion. Keith at MicroGram had a look at my old computer and worked out what needed replacing and what needed upgrading. He had the quote ready within the hour and my computer upgraded and working within a day. His after sales service was exceptional as was his communication throughout the quoting process.
I had a budget to stick to and he stayed within my budget by asking what I used the computer for. As I love to produce home movies I needed lots of memory and faster processing but I didn't need advanced or professional programs so this eliminated the need to purchase parts I just wouldn't use.[less]
They have specials advertised on their counter for brand new computers. They can tailor a quote to suit your needs, and offer a great price. I loved not having to throw away my old working computer.
MicroGram Computers is a Hidden Gem! Just a small shop but BIG on service!
Aus Sewmobile service and repair all brands of sewing machines in the Hunter region. They pick up and deliver your machine back to you. They were $40 cheaper than a sewing machine repair centre which requires you to drop your machine in and then pick it up again.
Service is prompt and excellent! My machine was collected promptly and the mechanic knew immediately from my description what the problem was.[less]
Northmead Growers Market is open daily. The quality of fruit and veg is really good and you can also stock your pantry and fridge with some deli goods. The boys will carry your box of fruit to the car.[less]
Head straight to the fruit in buckets before you purchase the rest of your fruit.
This butcher's shop is friendly and the flavour of the meat is wonderful. They have Riverina beef which is delicious and full of flavour. They always have meat on special, offer great deals and have a money back guarantee.[less]
There are always special deals available. I especially like the deals where you buy 2kg at a time. They are more than happy to bag them in smaller portions which make life easier. I usually buy 2kg chicken breasts and beef mince and freeze them in 500g portions. They might not always perhaps be the cheapest around for chicken (at time of checking they seem to be about the same price as basic supermarket chicken breasts) but the balance of quality and free range chicken, flavour and a great price mean they are well worth it.
Earth Markets is conveniently placed opposite Coles supermarket in Tweed City Shopping Centre. They have a wide variety of fresh fruit and vegetables. Their pre-packaged bags of fruit are great value and often locally grown.
They often have marked down items which will keep well in the fridge for a few days.
ALWAYS wander through their shop BEFORE you go to Woolies or Coles and you won't buy overpriced stuff just because it is easy or looks good.[less]
I'm just a naturally pleasant person when I'm trying to get the best deal, but seriously, you know this mob is good when you see the other businesses walking out with trollies full of that day's bargains.
Minchinbury Fruit Market always has specials on! They offer a great range of quality fruits and vegetables at very good prices. We always get our meat from here too - wide selection, very good quality and within our budget. Staff are always helpful and it's one of those places where you really feel part of the community.[less]
